Debbie Galloway

Debra (Debbie Diaz) Galloway was born and raised in San Antonio, Texas. After graduating from Lanier High School in the top 10% of her class, she attended St. Edwards University after earning an Academic scholarship. She graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice. She has received her Master Peace Officer Certification and Master Jailer Certification. Debbie is a tenured officer with over twenty-nine years experience. She began her career with TCSO in December 1981. Her assignments are diversified, as an officer she worked Bldg 4, TCJ, Recreation Officer, Transportation. She promoted to Sergeant in May 1989 and as a Sergeant, she supervised Building 2, Bldg 3, Complex Security, CORE (first female Sergeant,) Central Booking and Receiving and Discharge. She promoted to Lieutenant in April 1996. Her assignments as a Lieutenant have included Buildings 5-9, Complex Security, Auxiliary Lt (Records, Classification & Work Release) TCJ, Bldg 2, Transportation (first female Lieutenant) and her most recent assignment as bldg 2 & 3 Lieutenant.

She has been affiliated with TCSO Honor Guard since 1989 and is currently the Lieutenant of the Honor Guard. She is active in numerous other committees within the Sheriff's office, to include: Training Advisory Board, Operation SOS (founding member,) WIP, Cultural Committee, Brown Santa 5K, Recruitment Team and the Volunteer Appreciation Committee.

She is also an active volunteer in the community dividing her "free" time between the Texas Performing Arts Center, Zachary Scott, Paramount and One World Theaters. She volunteers at Central Market Cooking School, Keep Austin Beautiful, Sustainable Food Center, Texas Wine & Food Foundation and KLRU yearly fund raising events.

When not spending time expanding her cultural awareness and appreciation of the arts, she enjoys hiking, camping, dragon boat racing, fly-fishing, dancing, beading, bowling and exercising. She is a member of the Texas Outdoor Women's Network, Texas Women's Fly-Fishing Federation, Central Texas Trail-Tamers, Colorado River Walkers, and the Austin Bead Society.

Debbie married her soul-mate & best friend, Vincente Galloway and together they embarked on their first priority, FAMILY. They shared the joy of raising five children between them but now relish in the happiness of being grandparents. Upon retirement, they both look forward to traveling and seeing their dream "farm" come to fruition.
